The Driving Standards Agency
(DSA) are continuing to enhance the
provisions & requirements for the CBT & obtaining a motorcycle
licence.
Approved Training Bodies (ATB's) are consulted
from time to time on proposed changes for comments etc. & listed below
are the current areas under
debate for change - in other words it
will continue to get harder to obtain a motorcycle licence - the standards
are forever increasing.
AREAS FOR DISCUSSION AT THE
DSA ARE AS FOLLOWS:-
PROVISIONAL MOTORCYCLE LICENCES
- may be issued until the age of 70 rather than just 2
years.
LEARNER RIDERS - would as now
need a training certificate to use their licenses to ride on the
road.
ENHANCED CBT - Additional training
elements may be added to the course & its life may be restricted to 2
years.
PASSING THE CAR TEST - may no
longer give a full moped licence.
PASSING A MOTORCYCLE LICENCE
- may no longer provide a licence for a light weight
car.
HOLDING A FULL CAR LICENCE -
may no longer exempt you from a separate motorcycle theory pass &
visa-versa.
TRAINING & TESTING - of other
road users may be developed to ensure they appreciate the vulnerability of
motorcyclists.
EXISTING 'BORN AGAIN' RIDERS
- may require additional training.
REGISTERING - accredited motorcycle
instructors.
