Do you want to learn to ride a motorcycle?

Want to learn more about the various routes to a full motorcycle licence?

Are these some of your questions:-

What type of motorcycle licence suits me - am I suited for the Direct Access scheme - should I go for the 2 year probationary licence - how does one select???

Spoilt for choice on training schools & can't decide how to select?

Why do I need a CBT & what is it for?

Should I go for an intensive or a more nurtured course?

How much will it all cost?

How long will it take for me to reach test standard?

If these are just some of the questions that are buzzing through your head right now, then take time to view the various pages of this web site which may help in your selection of training school.

Don't be pressured into 'quick fire' all inclusive courses as soon as the first spring sun shines (as do most people) - take your time, evaluate what's on offer & always choose safety first.

MSM - Marlow School of Motorcycle Training is a small motorcycle training school located in the heart of Marlow. Chris, the principal instructor is DSA Cardington approved.

TRAINING first started in 1997 & has now seen about 170 trainees through its doors ranging from CBT to full Direct Access training (DAS) - not a lot compared to most training schools but still a proud achievement for a single instructor.

MSM offers internal training facilities for the theory elements & the use of a nearby 'off road' flat & level training area for the practical elements before being escorted onto the 'on road' section of the training courses.

Compulsory Basic Training Courses (CBT) can be run daily from Monday to Friday to suit demand.  Regretfully, weekend training courses are not available through personal choice (as this is Chris's time for personal biking pleasure).

125cc or Direct Access (DAS) test training is also available using either your own motorcycle or the schools own equipment.

Training sessions are usually slotted in during the working week to suit each individual candidate from 2 hour, half day & full day courses.

MSM's training policy is not to pre-select courses for candidates (eg. start on Monday test on Friday).  Chris, the principal instructor, trains people to ride a motorcycle for pleasure - 'there is something wonderful & rewarding imparting knowledge to keen & interested people & everyone is an individual with their own rate of learning'.  MSM prefer to to assess each individual after CBT or their first training session with view on their natural ability & how many further training sessions are required.

TIP 1 - if you're new to motorcycling & unsure whether it's for you, then just sign up for a CBT which is like a 1 day taster session. You will either finish the day with a smile (as most do) or realise that its not for you!

TIP 2 - one to one personal training is usually far better than larger group training although more expensive - decide for yourself which offers 'best value'

Chris, principal instructor is 45 years of age & was himself a born again biker in 1993 when, after a 12 year lapse, got back into biking as a leisure activity with his wife & a Harley Dyna Wide Glide took pride of place on the drive.

After a couple of years Chris bought his wife, Jeanette, a Honda Rebel 125cc as a Christmas present & taught her to ride a motorcycle although not the techniques to pass the test.

Chris got such a 'buzz' & sense of achievement from teaching his wife to ride a motorcycle, especially as she is only 4'11" tall & now rides her own Harley, he decided to train for the DSA assessment course & after a year with another school passed both the CBT & DAS qualifications which enabled him to start up his own DSA approved training school.

Chris runs the school as a sole trader & is keen to provide a special personal service for just a small number of candidates a year & only offers 'one to one' test training.

Chris is not interested in large groups & most trainees become friends keen to drop in from time to time to show off their new two wheeled beauty.  After all, biking is a personal pleasure for most people & not just a means of getting from A to B which requires that special character of person to see it through.
